It seems like some solutions have received an update to the action UI. Is it possible to switch back to the old one?
Hi @daniel!
Thanks for your message. We’d love to better understand what works and what doesn’t work for you in the updated Action editor.
Could you elaborate on what you miss about the old editor?
Toby
Hi!
Personally i think the UI has some good parts that i like:
- Calmer and less visually “loud”
- The tree connector is a good idea
- I like the direction, but think too much information was removed, along with the “noise” from the prev. version
What i dont like:
- Color muted, so scanning is harder
- In the old version i could scan an action quickly and the colors were so bold i could do so from across the room.
- Outlines were much crisper, so I could easily see where a block ended etc.
- Containers and nodes have the same look - so boundaries are less noticable.
- Comments have a higher visual weight than actions, i now notice these before any structure / flow
- Previously icons carried alot of meaning, now they are muted and less noticable at glance.
- Tree connector lines, boxed containers and indentation all compete to show hierarchy all at once, but each is faint. More lines / noise without clarity.
In summary I think a good addition to this new direction is to bring back the strong bold colors and outlines that show structure at glance.
For reference
My initial impression is that it “feels harder to read and navigate”. But that is subjective, and may be because I am used to the old UI. I will try to point at a few specific things that i believe makes the new UI less readable and harder to navigate.
-
The new UI has less color contrast. I believe the color contrasts in the old UI makes it easier to quickly understand what the action is doing.
- The blocks in the old UI (if, foreach, block…) are easy to find, and it is easy to see what nodes are inside and outside of the blocks. The new UI has a less visible top banner, and a less visible box around the block, which I believe makes it harder to differentiate.
- The colored box around the icons in the old UI makes it easier to differentiate between action nodes (eg. read and navigate). I believe the box also serves a second purpose; It makes a clear visual distinction between action nodes that does something on its own, and blocks, ifs loops, comments and such.

The new UI often requires you to shift between tabs, where the old one allowed you to use expandable/collapsable menus. The specific examples are the actions/action nodes tab and the logic/action data/action settings tab. When I have to switch tabs it takes a few seconds to get back to where I was when navigating back.
Thanks so much for the helpful feedback! We’re gathering this along with notes from other channels to see how we can make the new Action editor even better.
@daniel If you click the pin icon, the Action node panel will behave as it did in the old editor.
