The Select component doesn’t inherit colors correctly if placed inside a container with a defined background color. Since there’s no way to define custom colors on the component, the only workaround seems to be styling via custom code.

Thank you for the report. A possible workaround is to wrap the Select component in a container with a light background and no padding. Since the Select renders from the theme palette, a dark-mode theme could also help. For a single dark surface, the container workaround might be the best approach.
Thank you for the tip! Unfortunately that didn’t work with our design, so we ended up fixing it with CSS. That said, one would still expect Select to behave like Text and most other UI components in terms of color inheritance, regardless of whether the theme is light or dark.
