Sandbox Freezes after Drag and Drop new Component

Hi,

When I want to add a new component in my view, using the Drag and Drop functionality a big part of my application freezes.

I can’t change the selected item in the View window, I can’t add another component, I can’t change to the style window of the selected object.

I can however scroll the current preview, in the middle of the screen.
It also shows all the current margins/paddings in a light blue overlay.

The sample text here was from a previous time, and was not created while i was dragging/dropping.

Reproduction:

  1. Hold your mouse over a component you want to add
  2. Press and hold left mouse button
  3. Drag over to the View area
  4. Everything freezes.

Once i refresh the window the application is usable again.

EDIT:

The application also freezes when i want to drag and drop an element within the Views area, for example: I want to drag a text edit within a different container. It freezes as soon as i move my mouse whilst holding left mouse button

Hi, and thanks for the clear write-up and reproduction steps!

That definitely isn’t expected behaviour. From what you describe, it sounds like the editor gets stuck in “drag mode” (that’s why the blue margin/padding overlay stays visible and nothing else responds) and never registers that the drop has finished.

To help us track it down, could you share a few details?

  1. Which browser and version you’re using, and your OS
  2. Whether it happens with every component, or only certain ones (e.g. when dropping into a specific container or view)
  3. Whether it also happens in an incognito/private window with browser extensions turned off
  4. Any errors in the browser console (right-click → Inspect → Console) right after the freeze. A screenshot is perfect
  5. Which version of create and solution this happens in, so we can try to reproduce it on our side

In the meantime, a couple of things worth trying:

  • Pressing Esc while it’s frozen, which may cancel the drag without a full refresh
  • Adding components via the “+” / Add component option in the View tree instead of dragging, until we’ve found the cause

  1. I am using a Windows 11 device, which has Microsoft Edge (version 153.0.4234.32). The only active addon is my password manager, Ublock is installed but currently disabled because I thought it could possible cause problems.

  2. It happens to mulitple objects, I have tested a container, a date/time picker and a speed dial.

  3. I tried it within an incognito tab, which works fine. If i work within the same project, the information does get updated. For example if I try to drag something within the normal browser, it freezes. I drag something in the incognito browser, it works fine. If i drop it in the incognito browser, it adds the object in the project and the one that is ‘frozen’ also updates to display the new element.

  4. After reload this is the info I get from the log:

    After trying to drag, nothing is added to this window.

Pressing Esc does not cancel the drag, and the screen is still frozen.

I think I will work in the Incognito browser for now, because it doesn’t seem to give me any problems.

PS. I checked if the incognito browser has the same console log and issue log. It does, show the same information, and the same 7 errors.
