Once an app or flow passes a few dozen actions, finding the right one in the action editor turns into a lot of scrolling.
The tip
You can sort actions into collapsible groups just by naming them. Put a group name and a / in front of an action’s name, and Appfarm Create moves it into that group. There’s no separate group feature to manage. It all comes from the slash.
How to
- Rename an action from
SavetoTask/Save. It now sits in a collapsible group calledTask. - Give related actions the same
Task/prefix to add them to the group. - Or drag an action onto an existing group. The group name is added to the action’s name for you, and you can then rename it to something cleaner, for example
Task/Open dialog.
When it’s useful
Group actions by object class (Event/Save, Event/Delete) or by the part of the app they belong to. It pairs well with a naming convention, so the whole team finds things in the same place.
Good to know
- Grouping is based entirely on the
/in the action’s name. - You can nest groups with more slashes, like
Task/Dialogs/Open, but personally I wouldn’t go deeper than one level: one/per action name. - To move an action out, remove the prefix or drag it out. A group disappears when it no longer contains any actions.
