Export to csv/excel does not respect filters applied on hidden columns

Hello,

I have a table with several columns that are hidden by default. I want users to be able to filter the table based on these columns and export the filtered results, even when the columns themselves remain hidden.

One of these columns is frequently used for filtering. However, it contains a long, human-readable list of competencies that can clutter the table, so we prefer to keep it hidden.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open a table containing a hidden column (of type string).

  2. Apply a filter to the hidden column.

  3. Verify that the table correctly displays only the rows matching the filter.

  4. Export the filtered table to CSV.

  5. Compare the exported data with the filtered rows displayed in the table.

  6. Make the previously hidden column visible, apply the same filter, and export again to compare the results.

When filtering on a hidden column, the exported CSV contains all rows from the original, unfiltered table, including those that do not match the applied filter.

However, if I make the column visible, apply the same filter, and export the table, the CSV correctly contains only the filtered rows.

It seems to me that it would be more intuitive if the CSV export respected all active filters, regardless of whether the columns where the filter is applied are visible or not. Our users can, of course, make the column visible before exporting each time, but since filtering works correctly on hidden columns within the table, I would expect the export csv/excel to apply those same filters.
